Safety courses are a no brainer, it helps you develop good habits and skills needed to survive on and off road. Plus, your insurance costs will go down or come with a discount.
ATV Safety courses are a must if you intend to ride All Terrain Vehicles for the first time. By doing so, you lesson the change of becoming a statistic of being seriously hurt or even killed.
It usually depends on how much experience you have. If you have a lot of ATV and sports bike experience, then it usually isn’t necessary. However, even riders with years of experience get a lot of great information from any safety course. Most courses talk about how to ride and the necessary controls, such as gas and brake and ignition. It also shows signals to cross lanes, and etc. If you know all of this, it’s not exactly necessary but I do recommend that you go. The best thing that could happen is you learn one tip that you didn’t know before.
Safety is paramount! Adults usually know better, but for kids, a safety course is the way to go. There are no safe ATV’s. The only ones I know of are the ones you by that run on a battery from your local toy store…And sometime even these are not safe. The bottom line is supervision, helmets, training and oh did I mention… helmets and supervision. With kids, always start small. A 50cc atv has enough power for a kid to enjoy, and enough to harm him if not watched or supervised properly.
Don’t become a statistic. Wear all the proper safety gear, attend a safety course for a beginner and refresher course yearly if you are experienced. You are sure to learn something new each time you go. Plus it is a great way to meet other folks who have a similar interests in ATV’s.
